I was thinking about this last night as I was lulling off to sleep.... There are websites where you can swap store gift cards with other people who have gotten gift cards they don't want. Wouldn't it be fun if there was a way to "trade" admissions or wait lists spots? There are so many students who are clearly qualified to get into schools who didn't because the process was sooo competitive this year. One of my s's best friends got waitlisted at the school he really wanted to go to. My s got into that school but isn't going to attend. Too bad he can't "gift" his admission spot. So, just for fun.. what admission do you have that you'd "trade", and for what school?

I’d trade my admission to Washington U to get off the waitlist at Brown

jym: you crack me up…Okay, I’ll bite:

I’d trade my d’s spring admit to USC-Annenberg to get off the waitlist at Emory…still don’t know if she would definitely attend there, but would like to have the choice…

^^ Thanks, Rodney! So, we have a Wash U admit in the pot (thanks skp). My S will throw in his Emory admit (though I think his friend has first dibs on it). He’s happy with his college choice, but just for kicks and giggles, anyone want to trade his Emory admit for his Vandy or UNC WL spot?? I wonder if my s would be interested in getting off the WLs at either- it’d be nice to have the choice too.

I’ll trade my liberal arts scholarship to emory AND my admission to emory for a spot at Duke.

jym: Deal or no deal??? I HATE that show…No, I don’t think she’ll give up her Vandy admit justttt yet, sorry…(but maybe we can talk later!!!-HaHa)…

BTW, there are alot of kids around with “in” at Vandy, yet WL @Emory, WL at Vandy and “in” at Emory …It would be sooo interesting to assess a pattern as to why??? I have a theory, but refuse to post it for all to see…PM me if you are curious…

wouldnt it be great if u could do this in real life?

What a fine idea! But how does the fin aid and scholarships fit in there? Another idea: national database of college applicants. Colleges can draw from there, just like the NFL does.
Then they can trade. No waitlists, no multiple admissions.

Bunsen – interesting idea but what if student doesn’t get their top choice? How does student get a choice in the selection?

It could be set up exactly like medical school admissions is. The applicants list their top choices in order, and the schools list their top choices. Then a computer tries to match everything up

i’ll give anyone my full tuition scholarship to tulane for a spot at washu

^^ I’ll give you my WashU admit for free (I got really bad financial aid though so good luck with the $).

We could auction off some of these admits to the highest bidder, and use the $ for scholarships!

So funny; I told my husband about this thread and he spent all of dinner trying to figure out how this would work like the medical school matching system…I’ll come back when he has it all worked out; he got stuck at the point druu left off at…

ill trade my admission to holmes community college for an admission to Rice! it’s a VERY fair trade.

Actually someone was saying something of a similar nature to me. I would trade 5 of my acceptances to those who WANT to go there. The others I’d keep.

i would give my bc admittance to my best friend on the waitlist

and the 4 waitlists i’m on… anyone can have them for free

penn, brown, washu, emory

Freebies!!!

WL @ Northwestern, WUstl, Penn, Vanderbilt, NYU (Stern)

My trades:

Rutgers NB for $$$$ to fordham (already accepted to fordham, almost no aid)

However, i would trade:

Stony, Rutgers NB, Stevens, All the CUNYS + Fordham for Full ride to NYU CAS =D

i thought about this, but figured ultimately it would be people paying cash. imagine how much people would pay for HYPS admissions, it would be ridiculous given that some people make large donations just to have a better chance
