Forgive me for posting stuff like this, but I am quite curious. If I by any chance was an illegal immigrant, and applied to need-blind schools as an international student, would I still receive financial aid? Also how risky would it be to apply to these colleges, if I was an illegal immigrant? I've spent most of my life here in the U.S. btw.

Undocumented students are considered international applicants at most colleges and universities. That puts them in a particularly challenging situation as there is not much financial aid available for international students.

Some states grant undocumented students in-state status for tuition and fees purposes. Usually those students must have lived in that state for a certain number of years, and must have graduated from high school in that state. These policies are constantly changing, so it is very important that you verify the current situation in the state where you reside. It also can vary from institution to institution with a state.

For updates on this at a national level, see [Welcome to the DREAM Act Portal | DREAM Act Portal](http://dreamact.info/)

A lot of schools do not offer aid to international students. If you were accepted to a school that does offer aid to international students, you would have to be able to qualify to get a student visa to be able to go to the school (and get the aid). Getting a student visa might be difficult if you are already in the country illegally.

Thanks for the clarification guys. I’m actually a teenage korean illegal immigrant, and I hope some of my dream schools (MIT, Stanford) just consider the cruel situation I’ve been forced into.
