Hey can anyone give me their opinion on Illini Towers? I think I want to live in private certified housing and from what I can tell Illini seems to be a good fit for me. So could anyone give me their opinion on it, i.e. the appearance, the location, or any of your impressions? Thanks!

um, well, if you've got ten grand to spare sure. but in my opinion if you've got that much money, stay in a dorm, try college life, and rent a nice expensive apartment sophomore year.

my brother stays there right now and likes it.... i've visited it and the rooms are clean (professionally weekly) and spacious... there's also ac for the spring months.... i recommend it if you can afford it...

also, its only two blocks from the quad (about a 5 min walk)

i suggest sending in your lease information soon so that you get paired with other freshman.

IT is really nice, for sure, and a really short walk to most of your classes. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and nicer than public dorms, but it comes with downsides too. In public dorms, because everyone's in much closer quarters, everyoen tends to leave their doors open a lot and people get to know everyone on their floor and end up hanging out a lot. In private, tha doesn't happen so much. Doors stay closed and people don't visit and socialize a lot, so be prepared to deal with that. For me, it wasn't worth the extra $3000 to live in IT and have a living room and kitchen (which I would never use, since I'm a college student). I'd go public unless you really want the space and aren't concerned with meeting people.
