Illinois ACT Thread. Silverturtle, want to help get a full list? = D

@Cribelle – yes something along those lines.

@Kanan – that’s actually what I guessed, but i’m convinced it’s wrong. I think X would have to be 3, and Y would be 1… 3-1=2/1=2 and for (x/y)-1 would be 3/1= 3-1 = 2

@bishbish – we clearly are discussing them, join in!

^^^I’m hoping this will be my second and last time taking the ACT :P

^(x-y)/y = 2
(x/y) - 1 = 2
(x/y) = 3
x = 3y

(y/3y) = (1/3)

(1/3) -1 = -(2/3) <<<

^^^^ I’m not. I got a 31 when I took it April 10th and I probably got a 27 this time. I’m tired of ACT, hell!

Lol I hate to bring it up again, but a couple questions.

When refering to the neighbor was it just another “muhltujahlasdkf” tree?

Was the candle thing a digression to the other topic or was it to visualize what when on in the rest of the sentence?

Rahful, it was y over x, not x over y.

Olleger

I forgot what I put… It was something like another pine out of “some specific location”, because the M_________ was the a specific name given to the tree, not the type of tree.

I don’t know – I put the first… although upon consideration, I’m not sure it should be considered a digression.

@bishbish777 – Really? That’d be awesome if -2/3 was the answer because that one was really a shot in the dark as time dwindled down.

Another math one I remember, not that I found it hard, was I think #3 asking for the # of people taking spanish and not japanese (I think) as their foreign language… 45, right?

Yeah 45 for Spanish and no Japanese.

@ Rahful

I got 45 too, but I thought that I over simplified the problem.

That’s what I put.

yep 45

What was that one where it said if the following is f(3x), than whats f(-x)?

^ I answered 2x^2 + 4x + 5, but that was just an educated guess.

I think the answer was (E).

Awesome, that was a complete shot in the dark for me.

^^ I think that was 2x^2 + 4x + 5. Someone confirm or oppose?

Edit: that is either the last answer or it has to be 2x^2 - 4x + 5

It was the last one, don’t remember the exact answer.

Oh…one more. There was that one where it gave you three vertices in a plane and asked for the area. I found it to be like 37.98 or something, right in between 36 and 40. I put 40, but I wasn’t sure…

I got 36 for the area I think? I’m not sure, I can’t remember the problem.

The 4 was positive for my selection.
