The act will allow for students to obtain financial assistance from a fund created through private donations. It will also allow families of students to participate in the states college tuition savings programs.

Sam Ville says its all about dreams.

If youve got kids going to school, you get them off the streets, so eventually I think its all connected at one point, he said.

Critics say the act wrongly helps people who violate immigration laws.

The Federation for American Immigration Reform says there are more than 56,000 undocumented students in Illinois schools grades K-12.

In a statement, FAIR said in part that the Illinois DREAM Act is a slap in the face to hard-working, law-abiding families all across Illinois who are struggling to make sure their own kids have the resources they need to go to college.

The Illinois Legislature and Gov. Quinn are helping to create new benefits for illegal aliens, the group said.

this is great news! Illinois is having an excellent economic prosperity right now. no such thing as high unemployment numbers. everyone is doing great and have lots of money for college and dont need any extra scholarships. so why not give money to the unfortunate hard working deserving undocumented students? after all, they are the future of this country and will one day become lawyers, doctors, and engineers. even though they cant legally work after college, it doesnt matter. psh who cares? they can be the most overqualified hand labor workers ever in the history of this country. everyone have a right to scholarships and college no matter what! how dare people oppose this! after all, they are not like those legal international students who come from other countries or those legal immigrants who dont have their green card yet but are still waiting and paying income taxes. if those two groups of people can afford to buy a plane ticket and pay for the legal immigration fees, they are rich and can pay full ride for themselves. its about time someone stand up for the deserving undocumented students! this is truly a dream act.

sarcasm

what part of

“The act will allow for students to obtain financial assistance from a fund created through private donations. It will also allow families of students to participate in the state’s college tuition savings programs.”

do you not comprehend…???

^not the point. the point is they are taking a scholarship that someone who is legal could have had.

“They” are not taking scholarships that someone who is legal could have had.

The people whose are making donations are funding this endeavor are free to do whatever they want to do with their money. A scholarship for immigrant children is what they have chosen to fund.
