Illinois schools-snow day

<p>We are new to Illinois. For those that live in Illinois, what websites or TV channels do you tune into for snow days? My children go to Waukegan schools.</p>

<p>No Illinois knowledge here, but the school district's website may post that info -- ours does, and it's great, no need to wait around until they get to our district on the long list. The school should also be able to tell which stations do a good job of getting out that information.</p>

The problem we discovered this morning was that, because everyone else in metropolitan Chicago was doing the same thing, the website was down and the phone number was busy! By trial and error, we found that Channel 5's website (the local NBC affiliate) had a complete listing of school closings.</p>

<p>It is pretty sweet, our school district has a phone notification system so a computer generated voice called at 5:50 A.M. to tell us that school was cancelled.</p>
