Illinois State Mandated ACT Discussion 4/27/11

@Timex those are all correct.
@Theundertaken, no the question that asked “which is not answered in the passage” had things like: What is segment of newsreels? etc. The answer was “Who were Fox’s rivals” as this was not answered.

The Tadpole Passage: The beak acts as a mouth, right? or lips… i don’t remember which one was an answer choice

Yea who were fox’s rivals is correct. Also for the frog passage, which one was not answered? how many weeks they spend as a tadpole?

Beaks = lips, if I remember correctly.

The question asked what does the overlaying floppy act as. It acts “like lips”. This was directly stated in the passage.

@ timex. that’s what i put.

I remember now. I really hope I crossed the large cities one out when i read it instead of thinking it was the answer : /

I believe I also put the weeks spent as a tadpole down, too.

Which was most important to breaking surface tension? I forgot what I put down for that.

timex it was 720 feet for how far the ship traveled

Timex, I don’t remember exactly, but that sounds right. do you remember what the other options were to be sure? I remember one was 4000 types of frogs but I can’t remember the other two.

The distance the ship traveled was definitely 120 feet. It was going 12 ft/s and the lighthouse takes 20 seconds to turn once (3 times a minute). So 12*20 is 240.

what was the answer to the question about the tadpole’s feeding process?
(the beak and rows of teeth, eating algae)?

yes, the answer was 120 feet.

For the feeding process, I said that the beak bites off large algae, and the teeth scrape. I’m quite certain that’s correct, as it said the teeth as as “a shaving razor” for what’s left after the beak.

college bound-- how did u get 720?

i thought it was 240 because the light made 3 revolutions per minute, so one revolution every 20 second. the ship was travelling 12 feet per second, so 12x20=240

Rickyrich and Hiya that is correct about the feeding process, it was in the last paragraph

@rickyrich and timex. do you remember what answer choice that was?

Either B or C. im pretty sure B though

No I do not remember what letter . It was one of the middle two I believe.

I think I put something down about them having to feed fast or something to avoid predators :/

Does “wheeled” mean turn around for the Cesar Milan one? And does “margin” mean extent for the tadpole one?

■■■ I SUCK. Btw what did you guys say for what held the tadpole in place while it ate the algae? and what was the disc analogous to?

Ricky both of those are correct i believe
