IIT’s admission office is processing admissions on a rolling basis. Once your application materials are complete and we have them all in our system, the decision is made relatively quickly. If you look at post #14, you will see that we have had a very large number of applications this year and decisions take some time. In addition, IIT is now on holiday break and the office is closed although the Admission Counselors are working on urgent applications from home.

You should have already received a login to the admission portal. If you have not gotten it yet, you will soon. Keep checking this for any admission decision.

I am sure that you will have a decision in plenty of time for you to get a Visa to come to the U.S.

Please let me know if you have any other concerns.

Well given that my school report isn’t finished, I guess I should have expected that. Thanks for the reply! It’s just my nervousness making me wonder why I haven’t gotten a login to the app portal yet, wondering if I did something wrong.

I guess as they say, patience is a virtue :)

It is probably because of the holiday and the large number of applications this year. You can try sending an email to the Admissions Office after January 6.

How soon do I need to send my scores in to be considered for the scholarships? Would mid February be appropriate, or would it be better to send it earlier?

Hi,
I am an high school senior and I applied IIT for Architectural Engineering. Yesterday I received my acceptance with a good amount of scholarship and I am really excited! Physics and Math classes are my strenghts and I liked problem solving. That’s why I applied for Engineering. But right now I am kind of confused because I also want to study Architecture. I have been taking art classes and recently I have a portfolio too. Is IIT flexible with major changes or am I too late to change my mind?

It is possible to change majors after one has started at IIT but the new department/program has to approve the switch. Traditionally it is easier to switch from Architecture into other programs than the opposite. This was during a time when we had many students wanting to study architecture. Right now the job market for architects is not strong and so it might be a bit easier to switch than in the past.

If you are interested in switching before matriculation, your best source of information is the Admissions Counsellor who has been communicating with you.
