Illinois Tech's Camras and Duchossois Scholarship Deadlines - December 1, 2016

The deadline for applications for the Duchossois Leadership Scholars and the Camras Scholars programs at Illinois Institute of Technology is December 1, 2016.

Candidates for Camras Scholarships are selected by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions from the completed Illinois Tech applications as of December 1 and are invited to submit an additional essay and letters of recommendation and to attend interview “weekend” in February 2017.

The Duchossois Scholarship is a highly selective, full tuition, room and board scholarship which has a focus on outstanding academics and leadership. Full applications for this program, including essays, resume, and letters of recommendation must be completed by December 1, 2016. Selected applicants will be invited to campus for an interview “weekend” in February, 2017.

The Duchossois Leadership Scholarship program is unique in that students have a close mentoring relationship with the two endowed Duchossois Professors as well as regular contact with the donor, Craig Duchossois.

Successful applicants will be asked to participate in leadership activities throughout their time at Illinois Tech and each student will have a summer educational experience after their first year of studies. In summer of 2012, the Duchossois Scholars and Professors, attended the Engineering Leadership Conference in Adelaide, Australia followed by a 4 day stay in Sydney including a visit to the University of New South Wales. In the summer of 2013 and 2014, the Duchossois Scholars participated in Earthwatch institute organized expeditions in Italy (2013) and in the UK (2014). In the summer of 2016, the Scholars traveled to Sri Lanka to volunteer teaching English.

Illinois Tech offers many other scholarships for First Year, Transfer, and International students.

I got invite for the interview weekend and I’m confused on attendance. Are we required to attend all 3 days, 2 days, or just one day? If it’s for a few days are we required to sleep over or do I have the option to go home and come back the next day?

Hi, sorry about the delay in responding. I was away and not connected to email.

You can make any arrangements that you wish. The desire is that you stay as long as possible and sleep on campus so you can participate in all the activities on campus during the three days. By spending the entire time at Illinois Tech, the admission office, and the interviewers will get to know you better and be able to make the most informed decision on the scholarship you are interviewing for.

Having interviewed students for Camras and Duchossois Scholarships, I can tell you that being present is really important. It is hard to get a good sense of an applicant from a Skype or phone interview for the Camras and for the Duchossois, since the interview includes a social event with the current Duchossois Scholars, being present is important too.

All that being said, the Admission Office will try to work with you to accommodate your schedule needs.
