Is there any benefit to applying to Ivies from Illinois?

Highly doubtful. Not that you'd get a huge boost due to your location when applying to Ivies from anywhere, really, unless it was truly obscure.

BTW - PeaTerGriffin? I thought it was Tear (not Ter), when he sees the lady crying in the cafeteria?

There is a benefit in applying to many of the IVY's from the midwest and that includes Illinois. I know of a Penn rep who told me that they would rather have a kid from Illinois than another kid from Pennsylvania with higher SAT scores.

You will still need to be strong, but there is no question that the same applicant from Illinois who is applying from Pennsylvania, Connecticutt, New Jersey, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, will have a better chance of admission if he or she is from Illinois. The IVY's are still obsessively pursued more in Northeast and Midatlantic than they are in the south, west or midest: it's basic supply and demand. While Illinois is not Montana, Alaska, North Dakota, South Dakota or Wyoming, it is still an admissions plus.

Waht about Washington State??? Specifically, from a school that ranks about 1/3 percentile among state public schools?

Cum on feel the Illinoise...what?
