<p>I know UIUC's Engineering school rank is on top 5
but, it seems like UIUC's prestige is not as high as some other top schools like MIT or Cal Tech</p>
<p>What's your thought on it??

<p>Forget the prestige, the reason why MIT and Caltech are regarded highly are due to their graduate schools and bright students who achieve wonderful accomplishments, prestige only entails that. </p>
<p>Later in life, you'll realize that people will look at YOUR accomplishments, not where you attended. Prestige of a university should hardly be your worry, but what you will do at your university.</p>
<p>Not everyone can be number 1. I have no problem being 3,4, or 5 when the schools ahead are MIT and Stanford. You have to give credit where credit is due- those are some damn good schools.</p>
<p>That said, I'm very happy with going to Illinois.</p>
