Hello!
I just completed my Junior year, but had 1 or 2 B+'s semester 2 when I usually get straight A's. This is due to the fact that I recently (2 months ago) learned that I've had lyme disease for 5 years. I've had to go through a very intense treatment that I will be undergoing for a year or so. It made me throw up every morning, have fevers every day, muscle spasms, "cloudy thinking," vertigo, insomnia, hair loss...etc. I just had an overall lack of energy, and would come home from lacrosse practice at 6pm, go straight to bed, and wake up at 3am to finish my homework. For these reasons, I had a lot of trouble 4th quarter, and I am actually really proud of myself for keeping my grades as high as they are considering the circumstances when I'm in all the highest classes offered, an athlete, musician, and I work.
That being said, my SAT scores went way down the second time I took them. The medication has made me very sensitive to heat changes, and I had to take the SATS in a 95 degree room with no windows. Needless to say I was really struggling. My reading score, which is my best subject by far and always has been, plummeted from 720 to 560. I still have a 2060 superscored, but I could have done much better and I don't want colleges to see that and think badly of me.
Basically the purpose of my rant is to ask if there is any way that I can let colleges know about this illness, so they don't think I was just slacking off or something. I am applying to very selective schools, and I'd be devastated if I didn't have a chance due to this illness that has already made me miserable. Can I include a doctor's note? A note from my principal? Any help is much appreciated!
Thank you, have a great night :)

just tell the school. i learned i have prediabetes and severe allergies that hindered my ability to read and even lift a pencil at times. no big deal, just tell them.

How do I go about doing that though? Can I include a letter in my application, do I call and ask to speak to someone…?
