I know that in years past they've done a little event for New York area kids at the ILR extension office in Manhattan where you get to meet other future students and hear from faculty, Katz, etc. It's not a huge deal at all for me, but I know my parents would love something like that. Are they doing this again this year? I haven't seen/heard anything about it and I know that they've cut the extension budget a lot over the past year, so I wouldn't be surprised if something like this got yanked.

The Accepted Student events are usually put on through your local Cornell Alumni Club.

I am positive they will have one in NYC.
They have them all over the country.

I was more referring to the ILR “Welcome” event they’ve done in years past (google sez it wuz a June thing back in '07), not just a generic accepted students thing. W/e, i was just curious.

They’ll probably do it again. Although it’s a bit of a drive for you, no?

Meh. It’s about 3 hours (only a little farther than Ithaca) plus we have family in Manhattan so FREE LODGING FTW! and going to the event would just be on top of when we’re visiting them anyway, part of the reason I’d like to know when it is ASAP (that is, if they’re doing it) so I could plan it out that way. It really isn’t a big deal at all, I just think my mom would be into it.

I went to it and met people who I’m still friends with and who I would otherwise not meet because of age difference/etc.

Majority were female fyi haha. Mine was in NY Cornell Club. Pretty low-key but worth it IMO.
