I am currently writing ILR transfer essay (the Why ILR essay), it says word limit is 750 words.
I am wondering if I can go over the limit to around 950 - 1000 ish...?
I heard Cornell doesn't really care about word limit, as long as I keep it around relatively 900-1000 words with reasonably goood writing/information that I must write to prolong it from 750 limit.

If the limit is 750, 900-1000 sounds too long. The adcoms won’t care if you go over by a little bit (they don’t actually count the number of words), but part of sticking to the word limit is following directions and demonstrating your ability to write a brief but meaningful essay.

I got mine down to 748 words after adding more information and excerpting unnecessary words; I suggest you do the same. 950-1000 is pushing it big time.

Def pushing it. If you absolutely must include the additional info, I would suggest chopping those parts out of the essay and making a separate page and title it “Additional Information.” That’s what I did, but it was like critical info.
