ILR for business?

Hi-

Cornell is my dream school and business is my passion. I want to work in Sales & Trade (at a bank) when I am older. Is the ILR school good for this? I read that many ILR students go into investment banking which is sort of similar - however, I realize the emphasis is on law. Would it be a mistake applying to ILR with the clear intention of being a business "major" or would they not see me as an appropriate fit for ILR and think I should of applied to AEM? I would apply to AEM but ILR interests me because of the emphasis on sociology and government taught there. ( Also I'd say my chances of being accepted into AEM are pretty low because of how selective it is. While ILR is selective too, I feel my scores and grades match up better there.)

I do not know much about these topics (govt. & sociology) due to the limited classes offered at my school but these topics sound interesting to me. However I have no interest in law whatsoever... (Is that a red flag?). EVERYTHING about ILR interests me except the law part so does that make me not the right fit for the school? If it is okay to not be interested in law but still attend ILR should I at least try to show SOME interest in law through my application - or is it okay to ignore the law part of ILR?

In essence, is applying to ILR with the intent of pursuing business a plausible plan? Will admissions see this as unfitting or appropriate? (Is Human Ecology PAM a better fit?)

Also if you have any other info. about ILR/PAM in terms of business that'd be great!

BUT the main question is as follows:

I plan to make it VERY clear in my essays that I plan on pursuring a career in Sales & Trade - would this career intent make sense to be pursued at ILR?

Thank you for the feedback, it is VERY appreciated! Sorry for so many questions! Any that you can answer would be a great help! :)

I know someone from ILR who is at Goldman Sachs and I believe he is a trader. ILR doesn’t necessarily equal law school and it is fairly flexible. I think you already know the best prep for your intended career is AEM, but if the ILR curriculum is of greater interest, it certainly won’t hold you back.

Thank you very much for replying! That is very helpful advice! Sounds like I am now set on applying to ILR for business! :)
