Hi, I would like to study business for my undergraduate education. I have a few questions about Cornell's business program? Which school is it in exactly? None of them say like CORNELL SCHOOL OF BUSINESS or something. Is it ILR or Hotel or another? Which is best for like marketing, management, finance, etc? I see Cornell's business school is ranked very high but which school is actually ranked? And lastly, is the program funded by NY? Thank you!

To obtain a business degree, you would actually be enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences(CALS). The actual courses are in the department of Applied Economics and Management in CALS. CALS is also a contract college meaning that they do receive funding from New York state.

AEM is the best for general business (it is an accredited program that is in the USNWR rankings). It does receive partial funding from NY, so if you are a NYer you can pay a reduced tuition.

Hotel is also a great business program. I am an AEM major and personally think they have a more thorough curriculum that is more practical (a lot of team projects, business plans etc). But this program has a big hospitality focus that is annoying for some.

If you want to do marketing go to AEM, finance is good in AEM or hotel. If you want to do HR or law school, go to ILR.

so I would apply to the College of Agriculture and Life sciences? that seems a little weird haha but whatever…
does anyone know if its more or less competitive to get into compared to the rest of the schools in Cornell?

The AEM program within CALS is one of the most competitive majors in the entire university, if not the most. I am almost positive it has a <15% acceptance rate, and think I heard it being somewhere around 12%, but don’t quote me on that.

oh haha okay thanks a lot!
