ILR or Liberal Arts?

Is it easier to transfer into the ILR or Liberat Arts department?

liberal arts?

what do you mean?

Do you mean CAS, college of arts and science?

that is almost definitely what (s)he means. Do you mean transfer from another college, or to transfer within cornell from, for example HE or Hotel? Transferring within cornell is very easy, especially to CAS. In terms of transferring from outside, I don't know, CAS is the largest college within cornell (most room, easiest to fit some random person), but has the lowest acceptance rate for highschoolers.

transfer rate for cas is 14-17%

there's a statistic page somewhere on this board. i'm to lazy to link it. :)

I guess I should have been more specific -

Is it easier for an external transfer student to get into ILR or AS?

ilr 63%
cas 17%

Wow, that's a huge difference.

btw, don't apply to ILR just because it's easier to get into. Only do it if you are sure that you want to major in ILR.

however, i was talking to a admin person in Arts and Sciences. If you are already at Cornell and want to transfer to Arts/Sciences if you are already at Cornell, you will get in 9 out of 10 times so long you have above a 3.0

ILR is probably easier to get in as a transfer because ILR is easier to get into in general. That said, the enormous difference you guys are seeing from the stats is probably because ILR gives guaranteed transfers to a large number of students from the freshmen applicant pool who couldn't be squeezed into the freshmen class.

If I come in as a 3rd year, could I transfer to econ, or finance? Or perhaps do a minor?

Neboola- The only major in the ILR school is ILR, although I think you can do concentrations in more specific areas like labor economics. I'm in Arts though, so I'm not really the expert on this.

The economics major is in the Arts school. I don't think there is a finance major. If you have met the prerequisites for declaring an econ major at your current school, then I don't see why you wouldn't be able to switch to econ at Cornell. But you'd probably be better off contacting the department first and making sure whatever econ clases you've already taken will be accepted by the department as prerequisites.

The ag school also has the Applied Economics and Management major. That one is really the business major.

Arts doesn't have minors. I don't think ILR does either. There are minors in the ag school though.
