Hello! I'm a high school senior looking into applying for Cornell undergraduate. I'm not sure what major exactly I want to be in, but I'm sure I want something related to business. After some research and post-reading, I'm currently debating on which one I should apply for-ILR or School of Hotel Administration.
In your opinion, which one is a better program in general? Why? Can you do a compare/contrast? Which has a higher acceptance rate?

Thank you so much! You may be helping me make my final decision!

It really depends on where your interests lie.

Do you enjoy learning about history and the law from a business perpective? Then ILR may be for you.

Do you find the hospitality industry to be fascinating? Then SHA will be more up your alley. This is the beauty of Cornell: you can find a course of study that really works for you.

Both programs are at the top of their respective fields, so this should not be a consideration. Neither should respective acceptance rates play a factor in your decision, for if you don’t fit, you will be rejected by either.

You should focus on where your educational interests lie, and where you want to end up with your life.

To compare: ILR studies, both quantitatively and qualitatively, the dynamics of the workplace and how the workplace contributes to businesses, economics, and politics.

Hotel students study skills that develop acumen for careers in the hospitality industry, but there is some overlap in finance and other related business fields.

Both study business. It is their approach that differs.
