<li>Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): around a 97 out of our 100 point scale</li>
<li>Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 8/650</li>
<li>AP (place score in parenthesis): World History (5), Lang. & Comp. (5), US History (5), AB Calc (4)</li>

-4 years of varsity cross country, varsity indoor track, and varsity outdoor track (captain of all three teams for 2 years---6 seasons of captainship total); all-league, all-district, and all-county runner since freshman year; usually invited to big meets like states, state federations, Penn Relays, indoor/outdoor nationals, etc.
-3 years of chamber orchestra in school (first stand senior year)
-3 years pit orchestra
-Tri-M music honor society (president)
-4 years acceptance to all-county/all-region orchestras
-NHS, French Honor Society</p></li>
<li><p>Job/Work Experience: Giving violin lessons, tutoring kids for the SAT</p></li>
<li><p>Volunteer/Community service:
-2 hrs/week as volunteer leader at AWANA Clubs International (Christian youth organization designed to teach Bible and life values to kids aged Pre-K to 6th grade) every year since 7th grade.
-Tri-M Music Honor Society: does a lot of music-related service for the community, such as fundraiser concerts or playing chamber music in retirement homes (will likely graduate HS as an alumni life member).
-Raised over $2,000 for Arts Education International by chairing a benefit concert last spring</p></li>
<li><p>Summer Activities: Not much really, just training for cross country season</p></li>
<li><p>Essays: Common app = should be fine. For the why ILR essay, I want to write about how I'd really like to use my Mandarin skills to help labor relations between American corporations and their Chinese workers (since the economy is so globalized nowadays, including many American ties with China)</p></li>
<li><p>Recs: Should be good...my AP Gov teacher is writing one about how I'm very interested in labor unions/interest groups.</p></li>
</ul>

<p>Cornell would be such a fool to reject you.

<p>I’d say you have a good chance.
However, just remember that sometimes the best candidates don’t make it for reasons that can’t be explained: who I thought was the smartest science based student in my school (had done very impressive research with college professors + great SAT score) got rejected from Cornell, Princeton, and Caltech, before getting into MIT (arguably the hardest to get into of them all). </p>

<p>But again, I’d say you have a great chance. Hope you do get in.</p>

<p>I would say in, but its hard to say since they rejected alot of high scorers in ed. However, it would be hard to imagine you being rejected.</p>
