my friend who goes to Cornell applied to ILR ED last year, got deferred, and then got in RD. She found out about her decision I believe in late February/early March because Cornell decided to make ILR decisions "rolling" last year, something that they were allowed to do b/c they are the only ivy with a school like this. anyone know of someone else in this situation/have any idea when we can expect our decisions/should start to check?

I applied to ILR ED this year and I was deferred. I've been checking my status just about every day now, but as expected I haven't noticed a change. I called ILR a few weeks back to see if even deferred applicants might have rolling decisions, and the woman on the admissions committee said yes it's possible. I'm guessing I probably won't hear back until the end of March like every one, since the amount of people who find out under rolling is such a small number. But I'm sure it will be here immediately on CC when the first person is accepted RD, but until then just keep checking the status page.

from what i understand, the rolling decisions are only available by mail, not on the status page. no decisions will be online until march 31st

In the past- ILR did start "rolling out" decisions in February/early March. And they did notify kids on status page (or via computer e-mail).

My kid is now a senior in ILR and she was notified through status page (?) and got her acceptance letter a few days later. (small envelope)

The big envelope with ALL admission info came 4/1. So--if they are doing early notification by mail, don't get too nervous if the envelope is small.

Sit tight- relax. You'll know when the first notices go out- Someone will post it on these boards.
Good luck to all!!

^^^haha yeah...the Cornell admissions letter is a small envelope. I was so scared when I got the letter (since I was rejected RD the year before)...and I believe you get 2...1 from your college and 1 from Cornell

Husky- I'm sure it's not based on date you applied.
In the past, kids were notified via internet followed by a letter via snail mail.

but- they may change the method they do notification.
Stay tuned- my guess is that someone will be contacted within the next week or so.

thanks for all the information everyone, pretty much what i expected...guess ill be checking my status page a few times this week!

CALS does the rolling thing as well.
I know admissions was backed up this year but they say (via website) that decisions will be sent as they are made begining in March. These decisions will only be available through mail untill the normal Ivy League decision date (which I believe is March 31st-- at least that is when i hear from Penn)

Do you know if CALS does rolling for transfers for Fall 2008? Anyone heard anything about it?

yes...CALS does rolling for transfers. When I applied for entrance in 2006....they began sending decisions on April 28th or so and rolled until mid-June.

Dewdrop, I suppose this should be under a different thread, but what's the life of a transfer like? Did you live in transfer housing? Are you good friends with people your year who weren't transfers? (This is stupid) but do non-transfers look down on transfers or anything like that? I know that's weird, but we sort of do at my college- which is ridiculous. Anything you could tell me about it would be great.

hah...it's ok. I'll PM you so we don't hijack the thread :-)
