I'm going to be going to ILR as a sophomore transfer starting in the Fall. Can anyone give me an idea of which classes I'm going to be taking this Fall? Thanks

Hey! Congratulations on getting accepted to Cornell! I was a sophomore ILR transfer, this past fall.

Your first semester you will automatically be registered for ILROB- Introduction to Organizational Behavior, ILRLR- Introduction to US Labor History, ILRHR-Introduction to Human Resources. If you have not take Statistics yet, you will also have to take ILRST 2100. If you have not fulfilled Macro or Micro requirements yet, you will be expected to take those classes too.

Best of luck at Cornell! If you have any questions about classes or professors, do not hesitate to PM me.

Thanks.

I’m taking Stats this semester, but the person with whom I’m in contact with at Cornell said I’ll have to see if the class satisfies ILR’s Stats requirement when I get to Cornell. I’ve already done college-level Macro, and I will need to do Micro at Cornell. I also need to do a science/tech class for that dist. req. Will I take that spring semester sophomore year?

Many stats classes do not transfer quite nicely. I still had to take a stats class, despite the fact that I had already taken it in my old university. But, you can check that with Professor Velleman, department head of Statistics once you are here.

And yes, you will definitely have to do Micro at Cornell in the fall. You can finish distribution requirements anytime, so you can do it in the Spring or any other time you wish.

Do you why your stats class didn’t transfer? What sort of material was the department looking for that your stats class didn’t cover?

thanks again!

I am not quite sure, to be honest. Statistics Department will look at the syllabus and tell you if it is applicable or not, when you get here. It is nothing to be worried about :)

you will have some fantastic professors in ILR your first semester (Livingston is phenomenal! So are Besharov and Velleman) Do not be worried about taking a Stats class if you have to.

sounds good. thanks again for your help.
