Hey all,

I hope on transferring to Cornell for the Fall of 07. I'm going to apply to ILR because it seems pretty interesting. I would apply to AEM but I don't see myself getting in there. Just a question about ILR (to anyone in it, please don't take offence to this!), what exactly is it? I read the website, but I mean what would be the ideal job out of this major? Thank you!

I was really interested in ILR too (for many of the same reasons as yourself, such as the difficulty of getting into AEM). From the viewbook, it looks like ILR is a very unique school that has an overall focus on the workforce. I was looking at Labor Economics primarily as it would be somewhat similar to regular Economics or AEM. The acceptance rate is the highest in Cornell, but an interview is required, and that ultimately made me decide not to apply and to stick with AEM.

The interesting thing about ILR is that there is really no typical job that it leads into. But I'll provide a short list of jobs that ILR grads that I know have gone into.

various Human Resources positions
Mang. and Human Capital consulting
I-Banking
Financial Services
Teaching
Marketing and Sales
Union Organizing

Law School is alo very popular right after graduation
