Ilr transfers, accepted, for fall 07

hey just wanted to see those who got accepted to ilr for fall 07 and their stats and any advice. thanks

im a guaranteed transfer, but SATs ranging from 500-650 can get you in, depending on your college GPAs

crap they wont let me add to my prev. post, but...

im a guaranteed transfer, but SATs ranging from 500-650 can get you in, depending on your college GPAs. But at the same time, if you are a regular transfer, (and to be realistic) you are still competing against Guaranteed Transfers since they take up a lot of space, especially at ILR.

Even if I wasn't a 'guaranteed transfer', I STILL would have applied for 'regular' transfer, so I'm sure there are quite a few transfer applicants with stats similiar to mine. Despite cornell's high acceptance rate, they also reject A LOT, so all those kids with high scores are coming back as transfer applicants.

Well, my stats were, in brief:
HIGH SCHOOL:
SATs:780V, 760M, 700W
High School GPA at time of applying: 3.6 (went down to 3.4 upon graduation)
HS Rank: Top 10% (at time of applying)....went down to Top 20% upon graduation.
High School ECs (NOT important for transfer, so dont fret about this one): Founder/Pres. of Debate Team, Founder of Web Design Business, Founder of Health Research Organization, Class Treasurer, etc...

FRESHMAN YEAR COLLEGE:
College GPA First Semester: 3.89
College GPA Second Semester: 3.43 (partying really gets to ya in college lol)
College ECs: Entreprenuership Club, partying and pretty much doing nothing else

also realize that ILR is really nice to transfers, with (i think) more than 150 transfers entering every year. And also note that whats MOST important is your first semester college GPA. I saw the stats once and was actually surprised at the HUGE number of transfers they admit per year. So its def. worth your time to apply.

good luck man!

Did u say SATs could be 500? So someone with a 1000 old SAT and 1500 new could get in? No way. 600 minimum to feel good and then great gpa. Even though ILR looks at college gpa and passion, sum1 who got 1000/1500 on the SATs couldn't succeed in an Ivy League school (IMO).

(I'm a GT so my stats are useless)

figgy: 500 can get you in. Theres a report somewhere on Cornell's main site....they accepted a bunch of 500s and even some 400s.

Also, GT stats matter too...the more GTs with high scores, the less space there are for regular transfers. Also, count the people who should be GTs, but aren't and apply for transfer.

some stats on ILR class of 2010:

my friend recently got in with a 2160.

another guy, who had a 2030 got rejected thoguh. both had 4.0 college gpas

lmao. i think figgy's actually right here (i was trying to encourge people lol):

**these are all kids from the high schools i attended

a 500 SAT wont get you in UNLESS you have a hook of some sorts - the typical minority/athlete thing OR you took the SATs 12 years ago OR you're not a native speaker of english yet still pulled a 3.8 in college.

There are a few 500 SAT people admitted every year, but lets not assume they also scored a 500 on the other parts of the exam - nearly all the time it's the one outlier while the other section is superb or they rocked the ACT.

here are my stats (nothing incredible, and it should give hope to HS slackers)

HS GPA: 83avg (UW)
SATs:650m/700v/590w
HS ecs: football, weightlifting, community service ect..
College ecs: not much, a club and lil comm service
College GPA 4.0 (@ the end of one year)

Of course I'm right wave ;)

From wat college Grant?

University of Maine (thank god im out!). Also, I think I'm one of the very few people who will be in the presence of better weather by transfering to Cornell (although not much better).

SAT : 2170 (670 M, 730 V, 770 W)
