Is Penn College significantly harder to get into than Cornell's ILR School as a transfer student? (Given a typical competitive applicant)

yess definitely, ILR is so easy, admission rate is around %50

with that said, is it still deserving of the respect that "ivy league" connotes?

tamtam does NOT know what he/she is talking about. Yes, those are the stastics in terms of acceptances. But if your profile does not match with theirs, you should definately not be expecting an acceptance.

If a person is accepted at ILR, would you say that they have a pretty good chance at Penn or are they completely independent?

completely independent. If you want to go to Penn, then theres no point in applying to ILR.

that admission stat kind of has me rattled. 50%? in my opinion, that's awfully high for an ivy league school. does this mean that ILR is looked down upon by other Cornell students, other ivy leaguers or just most people in general?

naturally idiots who equate the simple numeric acceptance rate of a school to it's worthiness (e.g. yourself) do.

I agree. ILR is ivy league- it admits many students since it is a very specialized field into which not many students apply.

believe me, i DON'T want it to be perceived as anything less than an ivy league. I plan on attending ILR in the fall of 07. I was just seeing if people viewed it as a backdoor into cornell or something.

mojojojo69, are you from ILR? why are you so sensitive??
It is true that ILR is a STATE school and it is true that its SELECTIVITY is significantly LOWER than any other colleges at CORNELL...
I KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT,and I think you should learn more about Cornell...

ILR is not a state school. ILR is technically a private school along with cornell. The reason that some people confuse it as a public school is because of its contract with the state of NY, which makes the tuition rate the same as a public school. The selectivity rate based on percentages may be lower, but its selectivity rate among applicants is the same as cornell university, as it seeks well qualified applicants with good sat scores and gpa, who fit the profile of the school (social science-related courses on transcript + interest). Like i said before, you dont know what you are talking about.

ok you are from ILR, I wont keep up with this meaningless conversation..try to be kind next time..

I have applied to ILR this year, and tamtam to say some of the things your saying makes you look ignorant. ILR is not a state school first. And, although, as far as transfers go ILR has a high rate of acceptance, its freshmen acceptance rate is quite bit lower (more of a self-selctive pool of applicants for transfer). Addtionally I recieved a packit from Cornell which stated SAT range fom Cornell ILR students (freshmen) and the SAT scores are right near the cornell average. ILR may be somewhat easier to transfer into than other Cornell schools, but ,nonetheless, it is still difficult. It is an Ivy league school and no one in a shoein .
