<p>I'm 15/32 English, 1/2 German, and 1/32 Cherokee... My dad is a 1/16 cherokee, and the rest of him is like English, and he doesn't look anything like an indian.... So I dout it'll help you. I think it's stupid to be a URM when you're only 1/16 of a race--- You should have to be AT LEAST 1/4.</p>

<p>Out of 6 Ivies and 9 LACs applied to last year, only Yale asked for any type of explanation of American Indian status. They sent a card to fill out explaining your lineage. All others accepted self declaration. Do be prepared to be greeted by URM recruiting officers and alumni. Be prepared to attend URM recruitment weekends. Be prepared to be hosted by URM students any time you are on campus. If you are going to check it, be sure and check all that apply. Also, you should be consistent. If you didn't check it each time you registered for a standardized test, you may have some more 'splainin' to do. By the way, most tribal roles are closed to new membership, so getting a card is not required.</p>
