I'm 21 years old and I need advice!

I went to Pasadena city college for 2 semesters, but transferred to Santa Monica College because I was not able to get any of my core classes (Math & English). My chosen major was Business/Accounting, and I was supposed to transfer to UCSB last, but I decided to switch to Computer Science. However, Computer Science has not been working well for me. I ended up dropping most of my classes, not because they were hard, but I feel like I’ve been burning out from the commute to school (it takes me almost an hour to get to school I have to leave at 5:30AM everyday). Now I’m facing this dilemma where should I just finish my business courses and transfer to UCSB like I originally planned or go to a nearby CC and continue pursuing Computer Science.

I wanted to switch to Computer Science because I read many articles of how mind-numbing and uncreative accounting is.

TL,DR: I’ve been at CC for 2 years now, I’m scared of being an accountant after reading articles online, currently pursuing computer science but dropped the classes because I was burning out from the long commute from school, should I just finish my business major or go to a nearby CC and continue doing computer science.

No one here can tell you which major to pick. You have to work it out as best you can. Some things are boring to one person and not to another. Some people find programming boring. Also people who major in accounting can be hired to all kinds of business jobs. Understanding the books and the numbers is always useful in business.

Obviously you need to pick a CC that you can reasonably get to. If you enroll and just drop it isn’t going to get you anywhere.

^What BrownParent said. There’s a lot of buzz about how exciting the tech sector is, but some CS jobs are really just coding most of the day, which - for some - can be just as or even more boring than accounting. It really depends on your own preferences.

What I’m not sure is why your decision is between going to UCSB for business or going to a CC for computer science. You’re going to need a 4-year degree either way, and I’m assuming that UCSB has both of those majors. So why not transfer to UCSB regardless?
