I'm a complete idiot who has an ACT test coming up soon. Any advice?

I am a Junior in HS. I have the ACT test coming up soon that everyone in my school takes in February 28. . My avid teacher had just told us the date today (1/20) and I’m started to get stressed out. It is usually at March but it got pushed forward to February.

A little overview (which is pretty long and very complicated to please bear with me),

The education system where I live is very different then in the mainland. My school in particular uses a block schedule so students usually have 4 classes per semester and 8 classes in total.

The core classes (English, Math, Science,& Social Studies) are usually a semester long. All of my teachers complained that they have to rush through the benchmarks since there’s so little time (~14/15 weeks) so we usually go through one benchmark per week before going on to the next. For my English classes, we get taught the same exact things over and over again for YEARS so I feel like I haven’t learned anything. When I started taking AP Lang, I struggled with the work, the timed writing & I wasn’t used to the harsh grading. I’m slowly improving in that class so I hope I can get good grades. I feel like in AP I actually learned something.

I have just recently taken the diagnostic test for avid and I was really disappointed with my score. In the reading section I only got half out of 40. Ironically I scored higher than most of my classmates. But still, it was a junk score. I was mostly referring back to the text when I was answering the question and ended up taking way to long. I was at question 30 when my teacher announced that there was only 5 minutes left.

My avid teacher expects us to score at least a 31 on the ACT which I think is very far fetched. She said “just review the answers from the book” but how can we if we can’t take the book home? Where can I buy it? To be honest, this is my first time taking practice test in the reading section for ACT.

TL;DR ACT coming up soon and vastly unprepared.

I would take a practice test on the Khan Academy website. That will give you a feel for where to start. Reading speed is something my daughter has been focusing on, as well as taking lots of practice tests and reviewing errors. Repeating the test more than once will help

Spend the next few weekends doing timed tests. Find your weaknesses. You have plenty of time.

Teacher should not expect 31+ from everyone! That’s unrealistic:). Good luck!
