What are the average stats(GPA, SAT etc) for admitted students at Stern?
The admissions office does not release the average stats for ADMITTED students. However, the average stats Stern for 2005-2006 is:

GPA: 3.73
SAT: 1423

This information was actually taken off of the Stern undergraduate website a few days ago when it was redesigned.

:) thank you for being so open :) I was wondering, because I'm so extremely insecure, whether the GSP letter saying that the "application has been selected for the GSP program" means that I'll be offerred admission? It's got to...right?

Do we get any choice in regards to which dorm we stay in?

I don't know if you've taken it, but is the History of the Universe a lot like physics? I know that some physics is involved, but is it all math and physics principles or are there other subjects stuck in there?

If you get 4 or 5 on the AP Physics, Lang and Comp, Environmental Science, or Psychology exams, do they count towards the freshman GSP required courses?

thanks mate:)

Early Decision applicants get priority but you can still list your preferences. The school you go to doesn't have any affect on your housing.

good to know, thanks. :) ha! i won't have any clue where to begin.

Besides the official NYU website, here is some info:
http://homepages.nyu.edu/~jeb434/

oooh. thanks kiddo :) haha what grade did you get on this website project of yours?

jaimelajolie: yeah your science AP credits should excuse you from 2 GSP science courses if you get a 4 or a 5 on them

Don't even count on getting a single room when you're a freshman. Unless you have some documented medical reason, it won't happen.
Well, I'm not a freshman, so...

what is the downpayment when you send in your acceptance? (I got into GSP which tells me I was accepted, but I won't get the formal offer until April, they say)

1) What are the typical stats of NYU students who get the biggest scholarships?

2) Do you know if NYU does anything for National Merit Finalists?

Thank you :)

i talked to some current nyu students who were national merit finalists and they only received $1000 (total, not per year) for it.

sucks =(

Yeah NYU isn't known for giving a lot of money. I'm ED and I only got 4,000 financial aid....it sucks

If you don;t mind me asking, what are your stats "morningstar23"?

yanksbgood-

GPA- 4.0
ACT-(I live in SD so SAT's weren't big)- 28
SAT's- 1850, which is why I sent my ACT first
Activities- Varsity Tennis- 4 years(captain 4th year), Drama club- 4 years, Newspaper- 2 years, National Honor Society- 2 years(VP Senior year), School Dance Team- 3 years, Cheerleader- 1 year, Band-4 years, I also did a lot of plays with my community theatre and I volunteered at the local childrens home, and I volunteered work for former Senator Tom Daschle at the time of his re-election. I also went to Girl's State and Close-Up in Washington DC.

My recommendations were very good, at least the one that I saw, and my counslers.
And I think that's it.

Jason,

if I have a 84-87 average in my first two years of High school and a 93+ in Junior and Senior Year with ECs and volunteer work w/ a good SAT , can I still get accepted in NYU? ( sorry about posting the other thread, I only read it just now.... -__-'')

you may get into gsp. I got into GSP with similiar stats, 1300 old SAT and 88 average

phoenix - I am not totally sure about this but I think that the Economics professors are the same for Stern and CAS so there is some crossover there.

Which one is easier to get into(Stern or CAS)?

Is it possible someone who has 3.3GPA with 2260SAT Score?
with excellent extracurricular activities?

Do you really think excellent extracurricular activities and a 2260 SAT are negative factors? I'll admit that your GPA could be better but nobody would be able to you that it is "impossible" (which was your question).

Anyway, according to the admissions office, each school in NYU has the same difficulty of admission. You shouldn't base your application on which school you think would be easier to get into. You should apply to the school that suits you better. (Stern acceptances and CAS acceptances have similar stats anyway)
