MSF, I also am interested in the close-knit liberal arts school environment like that of Wellesley. NYU offers the opposite, but they still both appeal to me for different reasons. NYU has so many people from diverse backgrounds so its hard not to make friends. If I got accepted to both Wellesley and NYU (which I doubt) I really wouldn't know how to choose. You?

Do either of you know anything about the Studio Art BFA program in Steinhardt? If you guys could give me some info about it - good? strengths? weaknesses? impressions? - I'd appreciate it.

if i don't get the 4 on the ap calc exam...how hard is the qualifying exam to place out of math? i really don't want to take math in college. Also, I'm not taking an AP science class so I assume I'll have to take a science class..are there any really easy ones that you suggest a non-science person should take just to get the requirement out of the way?

Do you know any commuter students? If so, how different would you say their experience is compared to those who live in a dorm? Do they like or dislike it?

Also, if I do decide to live in a dorm, how hard is it to get a single room? I'll be 24 by the fall and the thought of having a 19-year-old roommate is remarkably unappealing.

Do you know anything about Steinhardt's Communications major?

amptron2x, I got into the Studio Art program ED for the class of 2010! I could not find any information any where on-line. but I have heard nothing but good things for the programe from all of my contacts!

SydneyAnn, yes I know a couple of transfer students and I would say their experience is very different from thsoe who dorm. Commuter students often have to leave early and hang stay to hang out with friends a lot. Also since you're 24 there are special dorms for older students and graduate students.

would you say there is a lot of school pride? a lot of people argue that nyu doesnt have a campus feel. would you say otherwise?

Thanks

Chances: 3.58 GPA, 35 ACT, Very good Extracurriculars (= low GPA), very strong upward trend. Applying early.

A major reason (at least for me) for applying to NYU is NYC. (atmosphere, NYC, internships, etc). But personally, does it wear you down in the long run?
I'm asking this because Tokyo, Seoul, and NYU are my favorite cities, but after staying in downtown Seoul for 2 months, it was hard.

I don't know what you consider school pride. If you consider school pride being that all teh students go to the sports games to support the team then NYU has no school pride. But if you consider school pride being decked out head to toe in NYU gear such as NYU hoodies, NYU hats, NYU sweatpants, etc. then YES.
And I agree that NYU doesn't have a campus feel. You're in the city and there is no campus unless you consider the park. There are different buildings for different classes and each building is marked with a huge NYU flag. Essentially tho NYU has no campus feel and its very noticeable.

IS it difficult to get a single room if you're coming in as a sophmore?

maybe your referring to cornell college in iowa?

I had some family things to tend to and so I had to stay in NYC and go to NYU.

oooh, yeah im in the same boat as you NYU and cornell are my top 2 , though cornell is top choice, my stats are a little higher than yours but not much- what do you think made your app stand out for cornell?

my essay made me stand out for cornell

Hello! I would like to know about the Math and Chemistry program at NYU.

LOL if staying in downtown Seoul is hard for you, don't even think about NYU. Seoul is definately a city but its one of the cleaner, nicer , cities. You'll probably drive yourself insane in NYC then. NYC is not the biggest metropolis in the world for nothing.

Do you know any GSP students who applied ED with a low GPA but high SAT score?
Are most GSP students students who applied ED?
Does ED raise one's chance significantly?
Do you think CC reflects the type of people (the stats of the people) who apply to NYU? And get accepted?

1) Alot of GSPers had low GPA's and high SAT scores, and vice versa
2) I'm not really sure if most GSP people are ED
3) I think ED definetly helps alot with NYU
4) CC?

CC means college confidential. this site.

Is there a foreign language efficency requirement?
