I'm a current NYU STUDENT- ask away!

why are u transfering NYU...?

i don't understand that question stonecold

Hello,

I was wondering if I have a shot [for NYU CAS] if I have a 10-11 [3.75 W, 3.4 UW] and an ACT score in the range of 28-32

I do have some good EC's for example: Eagle Scout, extensive leadership training, volunteer work at Lucille Packard hospital etc.

I am from CA.

thanks a lot! [also, if I don't get into CAS, chances of getting deff. to GSP]

I was wondering what you think my chances are for acceptance with a GPA of 3.6 and SAT score of 1310, a good essay, and great EC's- I run/manage the entire theatre program for my high school. I am applying as a freshman applicant to CAS. By "applying" I mean applied Reg Dec.

Is it true GSP acceptances are coming out this week?

Also, I know that NYU says we will be notified by april 1st, but do any letters come earlier then that?

And does NYU do the whole "Big envelope accepted, small envelope rejected" thing?

Thanks so much!

I would say your chances are decent for CAS. NYU received the most applications this year than ever before (and more than another other college in the US).
GSP acceptances do come out early as I remember because I'm in GSP.
All letters arrive 4/1. And yes NYU does do Big envelope/small envelope thing, except GSP, which is a medium sized envelope lol

"NYU received the most applications this year than ever before (and more than another other college in the US)."

crazy stuff

35, 073 applications to be exact

http://www.nyunews.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2006/02/02/43e1c87f52d5d?in_archive=1

Remember tha NYU is a huge school, so it does not receive more applications per spot than any other school,so don't be nervous about that statistic.

Yea, my acceptance envelope was really big. (I'm in Tisch)

Regarding the 35000+ apps this year..
NYU is really popular and EVERYONE applies to NYU. So it's not just the perfect scorers who apply to the ivies, it's also the people with less than stellar scores who want to go to NYU/NYC.. the number can be a little intimidating, but i think the 35000 has a balanced mix of high/middle/low applicants. good luck to everyone though.

jason, im asking why your transfering out of NYU to cornell

I'm Sorry, but what is GSP?

personal reasons stonecold
and nove- GSP is the ****!!!! GSP RULES!

Jason2811

What do you think my chances are of transfering to NYU (CAS)
SAT 1210
HS GPA: 3.4 ish
College (freshman now): 3.42
EC: NHS, martial arts, community service, college yearbook, newspaper, magazine, violin, MUN, Human rights club
idk if I'm allowed to put EC from HS: Ivy scholars Program at Yale, NYLC
Job: baby sitting, a past internship with my county's human resources,
Essay: don't know if they'll LOVE my essays but I'll try the best I can.
I'm taking my ACT to try to get a good score.
I applied to the school during HS but was rejected.

THANKS!

And also.....is NYC really depressing during the winter (really dark)?
And the essay, e.i. what I did last sunday and summer - are they supposed to be creative or just the plain truth, like "I went to a movie"?

Heeeellllp me!!!!!
Sorry about my long posts :D

i have been wondering what to put in that blank too lynd. i read A is for Admission, which is written by a former dartmouth admissions director, and she said that writing about an activity you are dedicated to is a good idea. i ended up putting that i took dual credit courses at a community college because that is what i did.

lynd- decent chance
and NYC is really nice in the winter. bright christmas lights all the time on all the trees and a lot of decorations. it was a very very mild winter this year though

Lol I just realized I called you dude, and its also your SN thing...wow I'm a dumbass.. Anyway, I had to ask dude55, I want to go study music biz at NYU really bad, but am so nervous about the audition. I already approved to audition, and my audition is March 5th, but I have no idea what to expect, and how hard it is to get into? Also, how is the program and whats it like? Man, I really hope I get in. Thanks for your time. Hit me up on myspace if its easier for you... my link is myspace.com/playboi0224, and my email is andy4music@bellsouth.net. Thanks dude!

Anyone know how many kids do GSP and then DON'T get into CAS ?

I am currently a freshman at Louisiana State University (1st semester 4.0 with 16 hours) (2nd semester-14 hours, with my first honors course in the LSU honors college)
-white female
-majoring in psychology (going for CAS)
-went to a parochial hs (3.6...several honors courses & one AP) (only one C on report card ever)
-sad act score of 22
-fairly heavy ECs (High school-some national recognition regarding speech and debate...and other Ecs such as dancing and campus/church ministries, etc. – some awards, etc.)…I am involved in some college activities as well and have a job in my dorm…

Do I have any chance?

What can I do to stick out?

Would it help to apply for Summer 2006 as opposed to Fall 2006?

Any advice?
