I'm a damsel in distress

I'm not exactly the prettiest one you will find, but you were misled to my thread. You must now chance me.
I posted here before, but I'm back with more statistics. I am also applying ED to Brown.

SAT: 1460/2200 (CR690 M770 W740)
Class size: about 400
UW GPA: 3.77
Weighed GPA? I'm not so sure anymore.

GPA has been decreasing while my rank has been rising. Is this common?
What would the AdCom think about this?
Freshman year: Top 10% (3.86)
Soph year: Top 5% (3.84)
Junior year: Top 3% (3.59... I know, I know)
Remember the GPAs are unweighed. I could never be in the top 3% with a 3.6 hahaha

Total # of AP courses by graduation: 7
AP Stat: 4
AP Calc: 5
AP US History: 5

SAT II US History 730
SAT II Math II 710
SAT II Korean 800

EC's:
Amnesty International (Treasurer)
Gay-Straight Alliance
I've been involved in the two clubs for three years.
Cello (outside of school, app. 6 years)
Volunteered at Family Services for 3 years and received an award for this in May

I'm not sure how much they matter, but I'm putting this in anyway:
Asian American female,
born outside of US,
from a public school in DE

What are my chances at Brown as an ED candidate?
What if I applied regular decision to Vassar, Haverford, and WashU?

Brown ED - Mid-Low Reach

Vassar - Low Reach
Haverford -???
Washington University in STL - Low Reach

Hey there… I’d be happy to give you my thoughts. I would say that, overall, you look like a pretty good candidate. Your SATs are very solid (the 690 CR score is a bit low, but the math is quite impressive), your classes appear to be suitably challenging, and your GPA is solid, in light of your class rank. Your extracurriculars are good enough; however, they’re not going to make you a standout, so be sure that the rest of your application (essays, supplements, etc.) are very solid.

Now on to your chances, specifically-speaking. First off, I hope you have some other schools you’re planning on applying to other than the four you’ve listed, because they’re all very selective. As you currently stand, you could use a few good fit schools (Bard College, Brandeis University, Bates College, Bryn Mawr College, Colby College, Kenyon College, Grinnell College, Trinity College, etc.) as well as some likelies/safeties (Skidmore College, Franklin & Marshall College, Wheaton College (MA), Dickinson College, Lafayette College, Connecticut College, etc.). You’re applying to schools that are very selective, so you should really have some back-ups in case you don’t get accepted to the four you’ve listed.

Brown University ED… REACH.
Vassar College… SEMI-REACH.
Haverford College… SEMI-REACH.
Washington University in St. Louis… REACH.

Thank you so much, littleatheist. Do you think University of Michigan will be a good fit for me in terms of numbers?

Michigan is pretty tricky to predict, seeing as the school takes so many in-state students. That being said, I do feel that it would be a good fit for you, in terms of numbers. Just be sure to apply early on in the Rolling Admissions period so as to ensure the best chance of admission.

Any more matches?

Here are some more ideas. Since you don’t really specify any preferences, and the schools you’ve listed so far are all over the map in terms of size, type, location, and so on, there’s A LOT of variation (and a lot of options) on this list.

SEMI-REACH: Notre Dame University (IN), Emory University (GA), Washington & Lee University (VA), Wesleyan University (CT), Carnegie Mellon University ¶, Tufts University (MA), Carleton College (MN), Oberlin College (OH), Reed College (OR), University of Southern California (CA)

:D Thanks!

The SAT score is great, GPA average, and ECs about average for Brown as well. I’d say applying ED would make it a slight reach. I’m not too familiar with the others.

You sound like you have a very strong chance. Are you from Charter?

Nah, it’s just a public school. It has sent some students to the Ivies, most of them to Cornell and UPenn. There were always one or two students who got into Harvard, Yale, or Princeton.

Charter’s a public school. If you were from DE I’d think you’d know about it.

800 in Korean? Thats not gonna count for much if you are Korean.

Haha probably not since 35% of test takers get an 800, but you will be surprised how many Koreans can’t speak Korean well enough to get a good score. Are you suggesting that I should take another SAT II? I don’t think I’m in a shape to take them anymore.

…I wish I had stats like that. Sometimes I wish I wasn’t Asian, everyone thinks I’m supposed to have a 4.0 haha

ok so i think that you’ll get u of wash in st. louis, and haverford. can’t say i 've heard of it though, much less vassar. Brown ED maybe, i’ll say low reach.

chance me too http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/569604-so-last-one-had-too-many-errors-one-s-better.html

I suggest applying very early to Michigan since it is a rolling admissions school and will not affect your ED to Brown. By having an early in, it truly becomes a safety and if it does not work out, you have time to reassess and come up with some true safety schools.

cptofthehouse, that’s exactly what I’m doing  but it’s so hard to think of what essays to write especially when you have to write more than one.
GSW Fan, thanks for your encouraging words. I didn’t think I would have that much chance at WashU but you never know.
