I just called Tulane's automated system to check my app status (finally complete!) and it said I was a candidate for the Dean's Honor Scholarship. I did NOT apply for the DHS (though I wanted too, I applied to Tulane too late using the personal app and couldn't manage getting another teacher rec, etc. in time for the deadlne). I thought I had heard wrong and it was the Distinguished Scholars Award -- but I listened again and it is definitely the DHS.

Does this mean anything? Or do they say they about every app?

I don't believe they say that about every app. It may be a mix-up but I think you should simply call the Admissions/Scholarship Office and ask if you are in fact a candidate and if you can still submit the missing rec (you would also need to do the "box" project, too - right?).

Just wondering if you could post the automated telephone number you called to check on your app status. I can't find the number on their website. And congrats! I hope you receive the DHS.

800-873-9283 is the number I called. You get the option to talk to a counselor or listen to the automated system to get your status. I haven't had a chance to call the DHS...I've already called them twice in the past two weeks!!

Thanks, magster. When I called the number and followed the instructions, it said my DD's DHS application was complete. It also said DHS selections would be mailed by Feb 20. My DD did submit the box project and the rec form by the December deadline. I'll keep my fingers crossed for both of ya'll!

mono - we had some of that last year. There is a several day (even longer?) lag on what has been received and what has been posted to the automated machine. This is true at a lost of schools that have automated status systems. Probably nothing to worry about, but you can call.
