& i'm interested in the mock trial and the teacher's club, but it is too late to join them this year.

if i join them as a sophmore, will i look like a resume builder? or is it okay to start new things sophmore year?

You'll have to ask your teachers about it being too late.

No, you won't look like a resume builder. Many people don't join too many clubs freshman year to make their transition easier. Just make sure you join clubs your passionate about.

it won't look bad, don't worry about it.

It's okay to start new things at any time in your life.

I'm in the same position, as freshman too, and I definitely did not make the most of my year as far as clubs and activities go. I know I need to do more next year, but it's definitely not too late, because I'll have 3 solid years in any clubs I join next year, with possible officer positions Junior and Senior year if I am active enough in them.

It's OK if you join when you're a soph.

I didn't join a lot of my clubs until sophomore year.
And I didn't join academic team until THIS year (senior year) anyway.
Just do things that make you happy, not necessarily because they "look good". Colleges want to see you invest time in things that you're passionate about, not that you're just fluffing your resume with countless activities you couldn't care less about.

I didn't join ANY clubs freshman year. Sophomore year I did like two and this year I'm in three + theater. You're not behind don't worry =D.

Join what you want when you want- don't worry about what colleges think about it. Don't be afraid to join activities even after sophomore year.

A lot of people (myself included) don't join clubs until Sophomore year. I agree with the above advice: join when you want.

You could also talk to the president/faculty adviser to see what kind of club it is, and to determine if you would want to join.

I only joined a couple clubs my freshman year. Then in my sophmore year I continued with those and joined a couple new ones. You can join when you want, just don't join too many clubs and don't join just to build uo your EC's or resume.

i too am a freshman. you've probably had enough of a transition by now. Try to join the club, it WILL look better, just maybe not significantly.
