Im a junior on summer break, going into senior HS. When do i apply?

Sorry if the tittle was a mouthful; but im going to be a senior in high school in around a month, and i wanted to know when im supposed to apply to college.(Through what site?) I live in california if that makes any difference, and i was also wondering what site i go through to apply for financial aid and scholarships? Any help would be appreciated, my college counselor at my school is off for the summer =(

How many financial aids can i apply for? I heard there is one like fasfa? Can you apply for more than one and combine them together? ya, im completely confused on this.

Depending on what schools you’re applying to, start filling out the Common App to the best of your ability. Also, if you know of any supplemental essays that need to be completed for your desired colleges, start working on those, too. Most of the financial aid stuff/scholarships can be dealt with later.

tl;dr-Start now.

“Most of the financial aid stuff/scholarships can be dealt with later.”
Just tell me how to do it now plz, and what site do i go through to apply to a college.

Most financial aid stuff, such as the FAFSA, can’t even be completed now. You’ll have to wait until January at the earliest to fill it out.

If your school uses the Common App, you register at commonapp.org and fill it out, selecting schools you want to apply to. If your school does not use the common app, check out their respective websites for their applications.

Okay, now we are talking, at least let me get the dates.

So for financial aid and scholar ships, I wait till January.

When do i submit college applications?

And when do i submit community college applications if it’s not the same time?

What colleges and universities are you applying to? If one or more is on this list (https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/Members.aspx</a>), then use https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/Default.aspx</a> to create an account and follow the instructions. You will need your guidance counselor for some things, and due dates are January for regular, and October or November or December for various early admissions programs. Community College applications can be handled through their websites.

I wanna apply to CSU Northridge, CSU Long Beach, and Santa Monica College(Community college).

I didn’t see these on the site, where would i apply to these schools, and which would you guys recommend?

Go to the websites of each college, find an “admissions” section, and there should be information, instructions, and an application.

Okay thanks, so in january, i go to their sites, and i apply through it, and is the financial aid and loans and scholarships within the aplication, or is it on another site?

no, you should be applying beginning mid-september.
your list of schools (reaches, targets, safeties) should be ready by the start of the school year.
your applications should be sent out according to the schools’ deadline. (listed on Collegeboard or the schools’ websites)
FAFSA should be started in Jan. & due according to deadlines.

Housing is something else you might want to check out if you’re going out of state.

Everything should be on the school’s sites.

You really need to sit down with your counselor as soon as possible and talk about these things. Ds high school offered a college information assembly for all juniors. They gave detailed information about applying to CSUs and UCs. Hopefully, your counselor will be able to review all of this information with you. Regardless, assuming your school starts end August or beginning September, you still have time.
