I got my housing assignment, and it seems that I am in a quad. I kinda wanted a double, because there is probably more privacy. Its kinda weird that I got a quad too, because the entire building only has 3 quads. I guess a a few pluses are that my room is bigger, its near the stairs (don't know if that matters, because it is supposedly on the first floor), and its next to things like the kitchen and bathroom. Are there any other good things about living in a quad as opposed to a double?

More possibility of having someone you get along with?

most schools have quads that are two doubles attached to a common room = extra space.

"More possibility of having someone you get along with?"

Though also more possibility of having someone you absolutely hate :)

as long as you're friendly with your roommates for the first few weeks, living in a quad will effectually quadruple the number of people (and potential friends) you'll meet at the beginning of school.

^ Exactly... it opens up more opportunities. Sure, you may end up hating one of them, you also may end up loving one of them. Regardless, it means more immediate connections for you, and a "group" to do things with for at least the first few weeks. I lived in a 5-person suite my freshman year, it was a great experience. If I could go back, no way would I room in a double over a 5-person.

Well, I'm not really going to a big school. There are a little over 2,100 undergrads, and I think the freshmen class is about 600. Which isn't that much bigger than my high school class. I didn't know everybody in my class in high school, but I probably knew a majority of them. But, I guess initially it will help.

I was in a quad...extra space. We moved all the beds and desks in one room which actually fit better than we thought, and used the other area as a lounge and hangout room. It also helped that all 3 of my freshman roomates were kickass.

being by the first floor staircase will be awesome if you want people coming into your room all the time, horrible if you dont

i kinda wish i had requested a bigger room. more people, more things going on, and more opprotunities. even if your not all best friends you have a good chance of having a blast while your in the room. quads at most schools are HUGE too. being next to kitchen and bathroom will be nice.

what i think is best is that you can meet SO many more people. say you and your 3 roommates hang out with somewhat different groups.. you get to meet all of their friends!

if you dont like it next year you ccna make sure to have a double, or at least a suite with seperate rooms so yo ucna get privacy if thats waht you want. im living in an 8 person suit next year (4 doubles) and am SO excited!

i will be in a quan too this fall and im a new internl. transfer student.
the building is the one that i want..
however,
my 3 other will-be-roomies are (as i saw their facebook) close friends, americans, majoring in pre-pharmacy (while im business), and from a same city..
so far, they seem nice and pretty friendly in fb.

im kinda afraid that it will be hard for me to get in..?

I just heard back another roommate. They don't seem to say much...
