how do you like NYU's "campus"?

I've never really been on a "real" campus, so I can't say I feel like I'm missing anything. NYC is a great place to be, though, especially the Village.

what book did you use for WTE-I? and how are you graded? assignments?

do you know any waitlisted students in your class that were accepted, and if so, how many of them are there?

also, what do you suggest i do for waitlist... :/

are there many/alot of international students in Stern? especially canadians?

legionaire:
I think there are two books: one with good essays written by people from the year before, and one with essays by published authors. Grades are based mostly on the essays you write - the three big final essays, and then all the little ones that build up to those.

saintsimon:
No one's ever mentioned having gotten into Stern from the waitlist, but my best idea would be for you to send in any new scores or awards you've gotten since you submitted the original application, and perhaps call or write the admissions office and tell them you really really want to go.

IVYPoison:
There's lots of international students, and in fact, I know at least 2 Canadians in my grade :D

how hard is it to get into stern for graduate school? i didnt apply for undergrad because i live right outside of the city and wanted to go far away.

there is sizable international presence in Stern from countries like India, Korea, UAE, China and many others.

julie003:
I have no idea about grad school, I'm sorry. Try the admissions website?

I really want to go to Stern...do I have a chance?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=167478
And do you by any chance know how many Sternies go directly to MBA programs at Wharton/Harvard/Columbia/other top 10?
How tiny are the dorms at NYU? I heard that it's so small you have to like live on top of your roommate.

ihateCA:
I don't know about your chances because it's different for everyone. I've always gotten the impression that very, very few people go straight to MBA programs from undergrad - usually, it's pretty much a requirement to work for a few years first. Dorms are decent, but it depends on what dorm you get. I wouldn't say any of the freshmen dorms, aside from maybe Goddard, have any rooms that require bunking, and that's a LOT better than other colleges I've seen.

if you received a Stern scholarship, does that mean you're a Stern scholar?

Smilies06

No, I thought everyone received a Stern scholarship...

I received it, and I am not a Stern scholar.

How's University Hall? Does the school you go to have anything to do with residential placement? (ie. is there a "Sternie" dorm and a "CAS" dorm?)
I heard that Stern's kinda conservative....is that true? Or does it look conservative because the rest of the school is liberal and Stern's moderate? (politically speaking, of course)

no, the residential halls/floors are not seperated by schools.

I really want to go to Stern. I'm living in Ohio now. Does that help at all with admissions? Also, we may move to London, so I would do my senior year there. Would this help my chances at all? Does NYU care about diversity in that sense?

my friends say that NYU has the highest suicide rate...true/just a rumor?
also is there any way to ask for MORE money than what they have already offered? what's special about being a stern scholar? how prominent is stern, compared to wharton and haas?

If I matriculate to Stern, I will have the chance to be a Stern scholar. The information that they give us on the program seems very general, so I was just wondering if there are any incites that you could offer about the program since you are at the school whether or not you are a member. Do you know about how many students are scholars ( a picture in the brochure had about 35 students, but I don't know if this was only part of the class), do these students generally tend to get special attention from recruiters, etc. Also, I'm planning to have the same majors as you, and i was wondering if the classes tend to be mostly objective or discussions about economic theories and such. thanks for your input.

are the job offers already starting to come in (since ur in ur junior year)? and also, what are the average starting salaries for the finance majors?

i think the job offers come in after the junior year summer(Internships)
