I'm a wharton freshman

I’m a freshman at wharton in need of something other than stuying/writing papers/checking out egotastic.com.

Feel free to ask me questions.

how is the school spirit so far at penn in regards to sports......did a lot of people attend the football games and are people excited about the basketball season going on now....

i know its an ivy league school and all but just wondering if there is a good sense of school pride rallying behind the sports teams......

where did you grow up what were your grades in high school

what were the biggest shocks when you first went to penn

was penn different from what you expected? in what ways?

what major are you? is it competitive? ultra-competitive?

im with pennhunter in wondering wat ur hs stats were like

did u get in early or regular?

Thanks a lot for taking time out of ur amazing wharton life to talk to some anxious hs-ers

wags888: I presume it's nothing compared to state schools, but students tend to support their teams a lot. Football games are a lot of fun. Basketball is a big deal here and yes people are very excited. There for sure is a a good sense of school pride. Nothing compared to Ohio State, but for sure more than most top schools.

PennHunter: i'm not from the US, so the grading system is hard to compare. Needless to say I did very well, as did every other student here.

do you by any chance know a neal modi? if u do, thats sweet

how many wharton/business related classes are you taking right now and are there are a lot of requirements that you have to take like gen ed classes and how easy is it to get and register for classes you want to take....

This guy is a tool. Honestly. I should go find him and laugh at him in person.

Obviously I would answer questions with far more objectivity.

yea im thinking ur right jcov do u know neal modi (freshman wharton "religiously" despise the school but u might know him by any chance? answer that objectively :)

who's a tool?

^you? jcov, you know what to do

letmepass: my biggest shock was finding out how amazing the people here are, in general. Of course you have your token weirdos and uni-dimensional nerds, nut in general people here are not only cognitively smart, but emotionally smart as well.

competition, at least freshman year, is inexistant I find. If anything, people help each other out (of course, that depends who your friends are).

yes I got in early.

I'm taking 2 wharton classes now. the curriculum is pretty rigid first two years, but you still have ample room to explore whatever you want. (i'm taking a cinema class)

hahaha, let me have it "Jcov"!
why didn't you jump off that high rise?

JCov's just jealous that he's not the only Penn kid on CC.. ahaha. the competition continues!

Is wharton harder than u expected, or not as intensive as u expected?

much less intense, still a lot of work, but first semester is very manageable.

oh, there's plenty of us penn students lurking around here...

in general, if transitioning to college life and academics goes well, then one should have no worries about doing well during the first semester.

Why didn't I jump? because I cannot fly!

NEXT QUESTION

For real though, freshman year isn't that tough. 4 classes is a very, very trivial amount and if you have half a sense of time management, it's nothing. Savor those moments (even 5 and 6 can be very, very manageable!).

People here are talented, but I wouldn't go so far as to say they're oh so incredible or anything. When I came to Penn, I expected to be blown away by intellectuals...

Not so much.

That might be true, but I would argue that the degree of emotional intelligence at Wharton surpasses that of any other university.
