What do you think are my odds at William and Mary?

I honestly keep going back and forth between doubt and confidence, please help...

I should probably add that I’ve taken the most rigorous curriculum possible, taking the maximum number of classes I could each semester. Currently I’m in 11 classes (2 APS), 8 during the day, 2 after school, and 1 independent.

I’m one of 10 students (1,300 kid school) who got their Student Research application accepted. I’m researching 19th century privately issued bank notes.

I should probably also mention that one of my recommendation letters if from the Curator at the historical society at Colonial Williamsburg? (WM is in Williamsburg, VA…)

Seems like you’ve got a shot. If you feel the need to, you could explain your low grades in freshman year/8th grade. Test scores are on par. You are well-rounded, participating in athletics and music. You also have a unique passion and pursue it through your job and clubs, not to mention the awards you’ve received. And, although I feel uncomfortable singling out your race from your profile, your URM status will help you in admissions.

I wish you all the best in admissions to William and Mary. Now please, get some sleep!

Really? I knew not as much as being NA might help, but statistics at most schools show African Americans making up a larger percentage of the student body then Hispanic students. I thought it would be somewhat on par…

your coin collecting is seriously cool. play that up in essays (or you don’t even have to “play” it that much… it’s already super unique to you!!) I don’t know much about the admissions of William and Mary, but I know that if you have a passion to go there and stand out from the crowd (which you definitely will), you have a pretty good shot of staying in the adcom’s mind.

I already signed up for My Chances a while ago. The website says I have a 100% chance, while the community says that I have an 80% chance :).

I’m trying not to put too much stock into it, though. I’m really trying my best to remain positively neutral. That is, to not really think about it much but have a positive attitude about it, lol.

URM status definitely helps, as does going to an awesome high school. OOS is gonna make it a little harder, but if you write good essays, especially about the very unique coin collecting thing, id say you have a great shot
