I'm afraid to send in my tuition deposit

I like Northwestern the best out of all the schools I have applied to. I like it a lot, but I'm afraid to send in my tuition deposit. I feel that everyone else in the college search instantly knows where they want to go with 100% certainty, but I don't feel that. Instead, I feel like there's something holding me back.

Is this normal or what?

What’s holding you back? Lol just don’t miss the deadline.

I’m not entirely sure. I think it’s more of the social side of things. I’m afraid I won’t fit in. I think I’m having more of a general college anxiety. Ah, I feel confused!

Haha, I would die if I missed the deadline!

It is an amazing school that my S loves. All schools will have pros and cons - select the school that best meets your individual needs that doesn’t create a lot of debt. NU is a full need school and I felt they provided a fair and reasonable FA package for our family and they cap their loans at 20k for 4 years.

Yes, it’s perfectly normal.

It’s even worse the day before your wedding!!! I’m sure that will be an excellent choice in its time, as Northwestern is now.

The cap is kind of misleading as that only is what they try to limit for the student. Unfortunately, any shortfall has to be covered by the parent so it’s not like they pick up the difference in grants and sholarships.

directall - what you’re feeling is totally normal; don’t let others bravado make you think you’re the “only one” who is nervous to send in that deposit! This is a life transition and that is nerve-wracking, but NU is an incredibly accepting community, how could it not be when there are computer and engineering majors side by side with theatre and music majors.

Once you commit you’ll feel much better! Good luck!

Ok, thanks guys! I talked to a really good friend at school who is going to a school in South Carolina , and she was experiencing the same feeling! We both decided that it was the stress of moving from being a child into adulthood. I sort of had a mini-breakdown yesterday, and I feel much better about it today. Thank you for letting me talk it out to you guys! :)

Best advice I heard. Flip a coin between your two top schools. Ask yourself how you feel about the results of the flip. Excitement or regret? If you want to flip again this should tell you which choice to actually take.

I do that trick all the time OhioOne, and now that I think about it, if it landed on my second choice I would flip the coin again! I think I know where I’m going!

You guys have been extremely helpful! Thanks!
