I'm already freaking out..........

Letters don't come until April and I'm already wetting myself over this... I've got a few questions.

How difficult is getting into the engineering program at Hopkins? I'm applying to Computer Engineering and I was wondering if that would help/hinder my chances.

How much will a 1400 composite (780M 620V) and how much will my SAT II's hurt me (690 2C 630 physics 620 bio 540 -_- writing)? Will the SAT II scores hurt at all or is it for placement only?

My grades for this semester will be lower than it has been for the past 3 years. Junior year I was getting ~100 weighted gpa, Fresh and soph like ~94 Now its like 92 with a lot of tough AP courses (plus my school slashed wieghts for all honors courses and lowered AP weights from .12 to .04 but killed class rank in the process) I also have a few B's currently (English, Computer Science, AP Euro) and C's in Latin during my freshman and sophomore years. My class rank (theoretically should be top 25% or so) I have a 4.0 W cumilative GPA. How much will all of this hurt me or is it just instant death?

So...pretty much all of my numbers suck and I'm relying on Hopkin's reputation to look at intangibles. My essays are pretty good along with my recs, character traits, talents, EC's are decent, and other stuff. How much will Hopkins take this into consideration? I have heard they look at essays more than GPA/SAT's? O_o

Any help would be major thnx. Thread with my essays is here: <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=24564%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=24564</a></p>

Deja vu...I've read an essay about the rubik's cube here on CC once...don't think it was yours because I remember the ending's different.

You are a good writer and the essays are solid. Though your JHU $10 essay doesn't really answer the question, as someone has said that you turned it into a narrative...but maybe the admissions staff won't mind....who knows.

I'm sure the admissions staff won't mind if my $10 essay is a narrative because they had a one or two narratives as samples in the JHU magazine. I think I answered the question well since its always better to put a reader in a place than to tell them about it, so a narrative would work well. It's pretty ironic how i scored 540 on the SAT II writing but I can write a decent essay. Another instance where SAT's don't correlate very well. :</p>

are these samples accessible online?

Yes, here is the link. They are all good essays, although differently written. One guy made up a rhyming poem and another wrote a script with two imaginary characters. O_o

thanks. maybe i shouldn't have read that. haha. i am now significantly more nervous
