I'm an idiot. but help, because the post office is not open on Jan 2nd

Okay, i realize that I'm an idiot, and thus probably don't deserve to go to Pomona, but still...

First, I thought it needed to be postmarked by the 2nd. Is this true? I thought it was, but I have heard conflicting responses.

Second, the post offices are now closed the 2nd, which was when I was planning to send some supplements. I can submit the commonapp and supp online before then, but I realized (being the scatterbrain that I am) that I did not give my counselor the required school report. I also have not posted the athletics supplement or the signature page.

Third, I live in NJ, therefor the post won't get there sooner than three days. which is a big prob if it needs to be in by the second.

on the upside... my mom didn't want me to apply anyway.

so... what do i do? i think im going to go ahead and just do everything i can ASAP and maybe even e-mail the admissions office with my dilemma (i'll portray myself in a better light, tho. ;P)

I'd say go ahead and send it in on the 3rd.
It's going to take them a while to open all the mail anyway, and chances are they won't notice the postmark date on your app is a day or two late.
Plus, even if they do, it's not like they're going to throw it out.

I'm sure that a lot of people are going to have the same problem as you so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Send in as much as you can online then just FedEx the rest of it as fast as you can (even your schools forms if they will let you)

Most schools, from what I've heard, are pretty fine with it as long as you have most of it there. They won't throw out an application if they're only missing something small

Uh-oh. They need receipt on the 2nd. Fed-ex overnight. I think they'll be a little lenient, though.

FedEx, UPS and DHL are closed today (New Years, I assume). I'm going to go with DHL (half as expensive as the other two) tomorrow.

I assume a bunch of other procrastinators are in the same bind, since the closing tomorrow was unexpected (mourning for ex-pres. Ford). Hopefully they'll understand.

was anyone else taken by surprise with this "received by" deadline instead of "postmarked" deadline? I definitely checked all of my info several times and never picked up on it (that really ****es me off. I'm so stupid!) Basically, I mailed the entire thing over the weekend, but there's no way that it would be received intact by the 2nd. I resubmitted it all online, but the signatures page had to be mailed. I just hope to god that the whole application won't be void if they are missing that piece... (I worked so hard on that particular app/essay!)

What signature page has to be mailed in?? Are you talking about the Pomona supplement to the Common Application? It doesn't say anything about that having to be sent in.

in supplements on commonapp, just below the "main supplement for all students" is a "required school report" and "required signature page," which can't be submitted online.

i think im just mailing it on wednesday. they'll be receiving thousands of apps, mine won't be too too late. hopefully

Oh, thank goodness I noticed that, even if it was at the last minute. You guys are so helpful. We should form some type of procrastination club if we're lucky enough to get in.

Yes definitely.

im in on that. i submitted my common app 5 min late...

yeah, i submitted my supplemental school report late, too. do they make their applications instructions confusing on purpose, or am i just stupid?

I just called the Admissions Office and they said all materials have to be RECIEVED by tomorrow, even supplementary materials.

I called them too. I didn't want to pay the fee if my application was going to be dismissed. They said that if it's late (not received by tomorrow) they will set your application aside, and it won't be obligatory for them to review it.

can you fax the required signatures page? or maybe scan it and email it?

I called to ask them. You can fax it, but they still need the orginial. I'm not sure if that means if you fax it you make the deadline?

runforfun-
I would fax your required signatures page ASAP, then follow up by mailing a hard copy of it immediately. Faxing is much better than e-mailing, since it'll be picked up by office personnel much more quickly.

Anybody know the fax number? I couldn't find it anywhere on the site. I already overnighted my signature page through Fed Ex, but you can never be too safe... :-</p>

The Admissions Office's fax number is 909-621-8952. It's not on the main website, but I found it with Google and it's on the Questbridge site. But it'll work for you guys, so here you go. Good luck on making the deadline!

don't worry about being later, i think mine was postmarked a few days AFTER the receipt date last year, and it worked out fine.
