i'm an idiot!!!!

Ah. I am freaking out completely right now. I just realized I completely wrote on the wrong topic for the Cornell CoE essay!! For some reason I decided to write about why Cornell's CoE is good for me instead of an Engineering idea! ugh am i screwed? i can't believe this.

perhaps...it might show you did not proofread your essay...

well my essay is fine grammatically, its just the topic! AH wow. i'm going to be rejected aren't i? :[ wow.

i just called the admissions office and they said I can fax in another supplemental essay thank goodness!

It does not have to be about an engineering idea you have. It can be about why you are interested in engineering and about how Cornell will further you interest.

Engineers turn ideas (technical, scientific, mathematical) into reality. Tell us about an engineering idea you have or your interest in engineering. Explain how Cornell Engineering can help you further explore this idea or interest.

it can just be about your interest in engineering. My essay didn't have an engineering idea and I got in. The question is a loose guideline, as long as your essay shows a clear interest and desire for engineering you'll be fine. For reference if you care, I wrote about an experience I had building an autonomous robot during a summer program and why that confirmed my desire to become an engineer, this gave me a narrower focus than just listing a ton of reasons why I wanted to be an engineer, and gave me a narrative with which to incorporate my interest in an organized and interesting manner.

If it makes you feel better... I'm an idiot too!

That's my shameless endorsement for my idiotic action. I blame applying early

no offense, but how can you write about the wrong topic? I mean did you just read the question once and get carried away in your mind and sort of unintentionally go OT and write about the wrong thing...because my applications not due until March 15th but you can bet i've read the essay topic several times and have brainstormed ideas, and will prune that baby to perfection by March.

anyway I'm sure you're just nervous and exaggerating - you did write about engineering, right? :) not about architecture? you're good to go

obesechicken- should you blame applying early, or [probably] starting your application the night before its due? i remember sending in my application end of september and i reread that thing a hundred times before i even thought about sealing that envelope. plus i dont think you shoudl go aroudn cc "bragging" about how much you think you are screwed over because you were careless...just a thought...
