Title says it all, pretty much. But, just to clarify, what can I change on my Common App after I submit it to one school (because I might have different ECs and whatnot by then)?

I don’t get why you would change ECs and stuff?

Well, extend my ECs, because a few months will have passed by the time I apply for regular decision. But the main thing I’m asking about is my essay, do they not want you to change it under any circumstances or is it okay if you apply ED to have a different essay for RD?

This describes how to “replicate.” Once you submit to a given institution, that’s that. But, you can make changes for the next set. For further info, you can also call the CA folks.

Thanks, that is really helpful… I just had that question because on the app it says not to customize for a certain school in any way. So, in other words, a school isn’t going to know or care if I change my RD application from my ED application? (Of course, none of this will matter if I get in ED, so hopefully I won’t have to worry about it)

IMO, they don’t want you customizing for several reasons- it can look phony in the personal statement and it just adds to your time to complete the series of them. Most supplements give you some space to do a “Why Us?” or something like it. I don’t see any issue with updating your ECs or removing a reference to the ED school. As long as you get the best app package out, that’s what matters. They offer a chance to replicate, so use it if needed. Good luck.
