I'm applying RD-Can I take SATs in january?

I'm applying RD to Cornell - My question is-can i apply RD and take the SATs on January 28 for the 4th time. Will Cornell consider the score?

I don't think so..and taking it 4 times is excessive

I thought you could still take the january SATs. Oh please!!!!

i might be wrong then sorry about that

I remember reading somewhere stating that all test taking for RD had to be done before Jan 1st.

Then what about sat 2s?

u can take it. just have ur scored rushed to them. call them again to confirm.

k but i will get the results in feb. -2 weeks after january

just call and ask, it's better then posting on here.

ok what do you guys think is better?-
retaking SAT 1 - 610W 530CR 670M (highest scores) retake for 4th time
OR
retaking SAT 2s- 600IC 660BioE

Definately retake the SAT Reasoning to try to get that CR up. If you can get in the 600's, you'll look a lot better. If you take it a fourth time and do better, they will look at your highest regardless of it being your fourth time.

what do you think my chances are with those scores?

how does a 570 look...same as 600 ??????

ivyleague99... it really depends on what you get the 4th time.

people have been accepted with scores similar and even below yours to cornell in the past, however, these are usually stellar athletes or people with INSANE hooks, which tend to be very rare.

I say it looks better to take it 4 times and get a 600+ on CR, upping it to 1270+ ; if you really get intense w/ the books and hit 1300+ region that would be an incredible feat- than it does to have taken it 3 times for a 1200. However, as far as other numbers are concerned, to be completely honest, Cornell's status, with regard to selectivity, while not up there with HYP and mit, standford, and cit, but it is definitely in the next category below- which means overly qualified individuals will be a majority in the pool. This is where the school may make those hollistic decisions and take people with lower scores- you have to try and assume those positions: in short, you have to give them reasons why you deserve a spot over someone with a 1550 sat-wise.

No one can comment on your chances here- most likely people here that comment are going to compare your credentials to 'averages' and 'middle 50th's,' which does nothing to tell you how good a shot you REALLY have at getting in, as the other 'stuff' in your application is seen only by you and those admissions people. But to answer your question as to which is better your score or to retake for the 4th time, it totally depends on your score the 4th time. Hell, if you get a 1600 the 4th time i don't think it even matters.

Good luck.

just a question, when should we designate CB to send scores? CB says they will "mail" it in 3 weeks, does that mean it takes longer than 3 weeks? When's the latest we can send to RD colleges (deadline: jan 1) w/o rush report?

You can take the SAT and SAT IIs no longer than January 28. For what school are you applying?
