I'm applying to Cornell and planning on majoring in philosophy. Is an interview offered?

Can I get an interview an will a great interview help my chances?

Hi there!

The Cornell interview is done by an alumnus and is primarily informational unless you’re applying to SHA or AAP. Getting an interview depends on your location (do any alumni live nearby?) and how many people from your area are applying. If you don’t get one, it’s no big deal, but if you do, you should go. Unless you really offend your interviewer or don’t bother to show up, I generally don’t think the interview has that much of an impact, haha. With that being said, you should still prepare to answer things like “Why Cornell?” or “Tell me about yourself.” And having a great interview never hurt anyone :)

Best of luck!
