To avoid confusion, here is a list of all science courses I have taken
- Biology freshmen year (no honors was offered)
- Honors Chemistry
- Physicsl SL
- Computer Science Principles
- Computer Science A
I have attained an A in every single one of those classes in both semesters besides 1 semester of Comp Sci A, in which I got a B.
In total, I already have 5 years of science classes.
Additionally, I am currently trying to pursue a major in Software Engineering or Computer Engineering
If your school doesn’t offer any other CS, Robotics, or Physics class, then I’d say to drop AP Bio without replacement. But if your school offers anything involving CS, Robotics, or Physics, try to take it even if at regular level.
(AP bio is not going to help with CSE or Software Engineering).
Hardly a crossroads here over a science course.
My youngest did not take a science course senior year, nor did a number of his peers. It did not noticeably affect their acceptances. The college counselor there saw no issue with the situation and she is very familiar with selective college requirements.
I’m sure those kids who were going into Bio or a related field would have been told otherwise. Yes, if you are planning to be pre Med go into microbiology or other related field , skipping out on an offered APBio course would be a gaffe. Not so for other majors.
You should discuss this with your High school GC.
