wow... how many community service hours do you have?

UCSD - safety
Stanford - reach (it's a reach for everyone)
UChicago - match / high match
Columbia - reach (again, crapshoot)
USC - safe match
Penn State - safety
Boston U - safety
Northwestern - match
Berkeley - match
UCLA - match

Interesting. However, please take note that I am not looking at the regular programs for most of these schools. I am looking at the combined Ba/MD programs, which are much more competitive.

Community Service is my happy point in the resume.

Others?

Why did you have to put that as your title? It's just obnoxious.

Sorry if i offended :(.
Just trying to be kind of different from "chance me" thread titles.

bumpy bumpy.

By simple average calculation, you have done community service for 3 HOURS EVERYDAY OF THE YEAR FOR 4 YEARS!!!

Are you sure you are not exaggerating? That seems wrong.

2,250 hours my butt.

The 750 work hours and 500 research hours makes it sound even more ridiculous. Adcoms will laugh at your application if you lie that blatantly, buddy.

maybe he/she doesn't sleep.

Yes, 2000 Hours and it's rather difficult to explain. My family is extremely involved in the running of the local Sikh temple and I spend every spare moment of my life there working ... I know it sounds like an exaggeration, but it's not. I even do a lot of my homework there. I can have the admins of the temple write it up officially in order to prove it to the adcoms if absolutely necessary. The research I will be doing for an internship at UCSF during the summer. 40 Hours a week for 8 Weeks = 500 Hours (it's like a working job). I also worked at my parent's small business for freshman and sophomore summer w/o pay.

I lie not about those numbers.

Let's keep in mind that my main pitch to the adcoms is my community service: my essays will be focusing upon that as well.

NOW, can I get some chances assuming those numbers are indeed valid?

sasrikal

nice to meet sikhs here :)

Sat sri akal to you as well. Can you attest to the fact that this is work is possible?

I'm so very glad I'm not the only person who thought this...

Though to be honest, the title certainly grabbed my attention.

HAHA, of course. Chances though?

why would you take 4 SAT 2's

at most you need 3 and you're not applying anywhere where u need more than 2- as far as i know

decent shot at all the schools but stanford/columbia is a reach

Um b/c my chem score is not the highest, and if you are applying to columbia, it's 3.

others?

Well guys this is definitely possible but it takes lot of work. I'm wondering how did you go about asking to volunteer at a research facility? I'm 16 and they keep telling me I have to be 18+.

This program is specially designed for high school juniors.
UCSF School of Medicine - Department of Pediatrics - Division of Adolescent Medicine

just for a few notes...first off I feel you have a great shot at all but nu hpme, stanford, and columbia are reaches. maybe i'd call nu hpme a high match.
otherwise, you should rethink where you are applying early. columbia is ED, and stanford is single choice early action. either you didn't know the rules or you were trying to outsmart the system...it wont work if you try this. Also, if you take four subject test, the schools will still see your chem score. for the college board (sat, sat2) you cant choose which ones you send...you have to send the schools your entire file, and you cant delete a score

Sorry. I was unaware that Stanford was single choice or Columbia was ED (make it RD then). I've been told that colleges only take into consideration the highest 2 or 3 scores, depending. I was hoping that a high USH, MathII and Bio Test score (750+) would be weighed greater than that Chem score which is only for HPME's program.

Any for those Ba/MD programs (esp. UCSD's)?
