I'm confused about dual credits from high school.

I went to the information session and they said something about not accepting credits if you counted college classes toward your hs credits.

I'm all done with my colleges needed to graduate, but I plan on taking college classes next year and I think they're counting towards high school too (even though I don't need them)...will these count towards NYU or not? If not, how can I go about talking to my guidance counselor about not getting high school credit for them (since I don't need it)?

From what I remember, any college classes that you take in HS that also give you HS credit/count towards your graduation requirements will not be carried over to NYU.

ex. Your college requires you to take 4 years of world language and you take spanish 2,3,4 then AP spanish. Your Ap spanish won’t transfer

This was the way it was explained to me: If your HS requires 3 sciences to grad. and you take 4 sciences only one transfers provided there is an equilivant class at NYU and you make C or better. You should get a copy of all the detailed requirements for grad. and keep copies of all your syllabii of classes you want to try to transfer. Prepare to politely “battle” for transfer credit and that different departments within NYU have different processes and rules for getting credit.

so since i have all my credits needed to graduate, will my AP’s and college classes transfer?

I don’t NEED them to graduate, I’m taking them to get some courses done so I won’t have to waste time during college.

@damon

if you don’t want to waste time, you can test out of some of the liberal arts requirements. math and language can be tested out of. check the CAS website. i think language is more of a placement test, meaning that you’ll just get placed into a higher level.
