My school has its own form that my teachers fill out to recommend me so that it can just be copied and sent to each college I apply to. I didn't use the form Stanford supplied. I also mailed them in regular old small envelopes (because I'm just that bold). So am I to believe that these materials were thrown out? If so, why did I receive an email saying that all my materials had been received? Could someone please enlighten me?

If you got an e-mail saying they were received, then you are fine. They don't throw out small envelopes. Those are just more likely to get lost. Luckily for you, yours didn't. And a school form for the teachers' recs is fine.

yeah, i didn't think they would be that picky. I know that Stanford doesn't need my application by any means, but if they really just threw out letters then they could possibly miss out on someone who's really worth it.

If I'm applying RD and haven't received that e-mail, should I be alarmed? I think my letters were sent before I sent my Form 1... :(

for EA they notified people of apps being complete more than a week after the deadline passed. worry if its february and you havent heard anything.

well, if they have all your materials, can't you assume that they have all your materials?

Btw (this is just a side note): te gustan perros?

¡Sí! (diez carácteres)
