I'm confused now! (FAFSA)

Alright, so this is me being slightly stressed out due to this issue with my application that keeps coming back to haunt me and prevent my FAFSA from actually being processed (which I've been trying to do for a month now). First, some information about my parents:
My parents are currently married and are living in Mexico. That is where they earn all their income and where they pay their taxes. They are not U.S. citizens or residents. I was also told about the foreign tax return, but my parents do not need to file any documentation in order to pay their taxes in Mexico.
Under the "Parents' state of legal residence" question, I found "Mexico" as an option and chose that. After submitting my application, it kept asking me to correct it regarding my parents' tax information, as I had put "Not going file" for their taxes. They are not required to file any taxes in the U.S. As for their income, we converted everything to U.S. dollars and put the correct amount in each question.
After my online application was sent back to me for corrections several times (asking me to correct questions about my parents' taxes), I decided to contact someone via the FAFSA website (live chat). I explained my situation and they told me everything on my application had been answered correctly and that I only needed to contact my school regarding my parents and their taxes. I did as I was told, and my school then told me to switch my answer to "Parents' state of legal residence" from Mexico to Foreign Country.

Is there anything else I'm doing wrong? Will more issues start popping up when I change the answer to "Foreign Country"?

We have no way of knowing if more questions will come up since we don’t know how you answered all the questions, but you’ve been told how to get the info to process. Change to Foreign Country and see what happens.

I have to ask . . . if your parents are neither U.S. citizens nor legal residents of the U.S., what about you? Are YOU a U.S. citizen???

@dodgersmom … why would you ask a question like that? Thats a little personal and rude IMO because it’s obvious if the OP is applying and putting information on their FAFSA.

OP is a citizen of USA.

Closing old thread.
